You’ve heard it said, the best things in life aren’t free…well, with Google Apps this is not exactly true (for the time being). Google apps still maintains their offering to business customers to use their Google Apps system which comes with 50 user accounts for free. Originally this started out offering 200 free accounts but they have since been putting the squeeze on this number. It’s hard to compete with the free email hosting offerings that Google offers. Just please be aware of the few side notes about the free system.
- They can change to pay per user at any point: When signing up, you take the “oath” that you understand Google may change to paid service at any time. With that being said, they do not expect to do this at any time, but don’t be surprised the next time Google is looking to bring in some extra capital for their next buy-out offer. Those free emails may come at a price.
- Still will show advertising online: When reading your emails online, you may be subject to viewing some extra advertising than just spam. To help pay for the cost of the free service, contextual ads are likely to appear along the sides of your screen. These are mostly non-invasive and can be easily ignored.
With the few side notes stated, we are very pleased that Google still offers the free emails for up to 50 users per company. It is by far the best free email service out there. Their strong spam fighting system is second to none. They also have some of the simplest default setups to get you up and going with Outlook or iMail using pop3 in no-time. If you can afford the switch, Google Apps is a great way to get a quick secure emailing system at a very reasonable cost, free!
